SUSTAINABILITY & SOURCING

You can only be Shiny if you care about making sure that everyone else can be too (if they want to be!). This means keeping your footprint small, being resourceful with recycled materials, sourcing ethically, and minimising wastage.

All while still having a lovely time and enjoying beautiful things.

It's called it balance, baby.

How we make your piece

Almost all Shiny People jewellery begins as wax, carved the old fashioned way - by hand. We fine tune it until we're ready to send to casting, which is helpfully only a couple of tube stops away in Hatton Garden (or if the weather is behaving, a quick cycle).

Sometimes, our design might dictate a more traditional goldsmith approach and we'll use gold wire or stretch our own, so that we can get it just right.

We set our stones by hand too, using burrs and customised burnishers so that your stone will sit perfectly in place. And we test them before they're sent to you, to make sure they'll stay snug for a lifetime, so you can wear your piece everyday without worrying.

RECYCLED GOLD

Gold is magic. It can't be created by man, and it's finite (which is why it's so expensive). Shiny People only works with recycled gold so that we can do our bit to minimise the impact of mining for more.

Stone Sourcing

We source our stones the best way, by looking for character rather than conformity. We only work with suppliers who adhere to the Kimberley Process Certificate Scheme. And where the design calls for it, we use lab-grown stones - ethically made, and every bit as beautiful.

Packaging

We try our best to work with packaging suppliers who use recycled materials, while still ensuring your piece gets to you protected
