Privacy Policy
It’s chic to keep things private - so it matters to us that you know exactly where your data goes, who has access to it, and why.
We’re not in the business of hoarding your information or passing it to anyone that doesn’t need it. We collect what we need to get your order to you, keep you in the loop, and make sure the website works properly. That’s it.

1. WHO WE ARE
Shiny People Ltd is a UK-registered limited company and the data controller for this website. That means we’re responsible for deciding how your personal information is used. Email: info@shinypeople.co.uk . ICO Registration Number: ZC156654
2. WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT
When you place an order or get in touch, we collect your name, email address, delivery address, and phone number. We don’t store your payment card details as payments are processed securely by a third party provider and we only receive confirmation that a transaction went through.
When you browse the site, we automatically collect some technical information. That will be things like your IP address, browser type, and which pages you visited. This happens through cookies and Google Analytics, and the data is anonymised. We can’t identify you personally from it. If you contact us, we’ll keep a record of your name, email, and what you said so we can respond properly.
3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use your information to fulfil and deliver your order, and handle any returns or questions about it and to send you order confirmations and shipping updates. We will also use it to send you marketing emails about new products and offers, but only if you’ve opted in and you can unsubscribe any time, and we’ll use it to respond to any messages or enquiries you send us.
In addition, we want to understand how people use our website so we can make it better and do this through Google Analytics where the data is anonymised. And of course we have to comply with legal and tax obligations, for example - making sure our financial records are up to date for HMRC.
4. WHO WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION WITH
Don’t worry - we’re a jewellery business, so we don’t sell your data. We only share it with the people who need it to help us run the business. So that might be people like payment processors handle your card payments securely (and they never share your full card number with us); couriers and postal services like DHL or Royal Mail so that you get your jewels in good time. They will receive your name and delivery address so they can get your order to you safely and quickly.
Our email marketing platform holds your name and email if you’ve subscribed to our list. Shopify hosts our website and may process some usage data as part of normal site operation. Google Analytics processes anonymised data about how visitors use our site. You can read Google’s privacy policy at policies.google.com. We will also disclose data if required to do so by law.
5. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS
Some of our service providers - including Google - are based outside the UK and may process your data on servers in the US or elsewhere. Where this happens, we rely on approved transfer mechanisms such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or Standard Contractual Clauses to make sure your data stays protected.
6. HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION
Order and financial records are kept for 7 years to comply with HMRC requirements. Marketing list data is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you. Anonymised aggregate data from Google Analytics data is retained for a maximum of 26 months.
7. YOUR RIGHTS UNDER UK GDPR
You have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
-
Ask us to correct anything that’s inaccurate or incomplete
-
Ask us to delete your data where we no longer have a reason to hold it

8. COOKIES
We use cookies to keep the site running, understand how it’s being used, and (where you’ve agreed) to support our marketing. Non-essential cookies are only set with your consent - you’ll be asked when you first visit. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. You can read our Cookie Policy here.
