Hello!

Welcome to Shiny People, I'm so glad you're here

I'm Sinead and I absolutely love making jewellery.

I love every part of the process. From designing and carving the type of thing I'd want to wear everyday, to sourcing and setting the right gemstone to make it sing.

Oh, and let's not forget polishing - there is something magic in watching gold transform in your hands into something buttery and beautiful, and I will never get tired of this being my job.

And I think you can feel that when you wear something from Shiny People. Every piece leaves this studio having been obsessed over, because I genuinely can't make it any other way.

I've always been a bit of a magpie. I had my ears pierced at six or seven and my belly button at fifteen (something I never thought my mum would agree to, but she called my bluff and off we went).

I spent my pocket money on mood rings, chokers and cheap chains, stacking them until they got tangled. Then I'd sit on the floor picking them apart for hours with a safety pin.

As I got older, my taste changed but my love of jewellery didn't. I just started stacking rings instead.

During lockdown I fell properly into gemstones. They are my Pokémon and I want to collect them all. And now I get to spend my days finding the best diamonds and sapphires, and shaping them into the kind of rings I want to stack all over my hands. And yours!

I will listen to any jewellery story - from how Manhattan was traded for glass beads, to the role of diamonds in the French Revolution (and any story about a jewel heist gets my immediate attention... the Louvré, anyone?)

Over time I felt a pull to make things rather than just learn about them. Why know so much about sapphires if you don't get to do anything with them?

So I started. Small at first with silversmith classes and wax carving - and a lot of time thinking about gold. Eventually I stopped just asking questions, I started making, and Shiny People was born.

Sustainability & Sourcing

We care about things being well made, and sourced well, so we put a lot of effort into making sure our footprint is as small as it can be.
